Learn Today, Impact Tomorrow – Sustainably

At the International Summer School on Systems Biology applied to the Marine Environment, sustainability is not just a principle — it's part of our daily practice. From plantable lanyards and recycled-material tote bags to a fully plastic-free conference and minimal use of printed materials, we are committed to reducing our environmental footprint. Our meals are prepared in collaboration with a local association that promotes social inclusion through food, reinforcing our belief that sustainability must also be social. Because protecting the ocean starts with mindful choices — in science, in community, and in action.
Join us and be part of a new generation of scientists shaping a more sustainable future.

Badge & Lanyard

Patented eco-friendly badge,  featuring a plant sprouting and growing. The card is made of recycled cardboard and contains a soil pad and seeds that, when watered regularly, will grow into beautiful plants.

Special eco-friendly lanyard made from Eco-Card, handcrafted plantable paper.

Completely compostable and biodegradable, Eco-Card contains seeds that will grow into small plants. Simply plant the paper in a pot and water frequently to see the first shoots appear after a few days.

Tobilì Società Cooperativa Catering

Tobilì is a small social cooperative whose mission is to foster inclusion and autonomy through work, for both local and migrant people experiencing social disadvantage.
Our integration programs are specifically aimed at asylum seekers and women who are survivors of violence or human trafficking.

Our food offering is designed to bring your guests a selection of artisanal and locally sourced products — from the sea and land of Southern Italy — inspired by the values of cultural exchange and diversity.
We propose a cross-cultural cuisine, crafted with ingredients that tell a story of excellence, but also of struggle, social inclusion, and civic commitment.
